Otago University

Otago University is the oldest university in New Zealand, founded in 1869. While originally giving out only one degree, the University now enrols over 20,000 students each year to study commerce, health sciences, sciences, and humanities. Dunedin is renowned in New Zealand for its student life, infamous for the titled flats of Castle St, and the "Scarfie" attire of the students, who, in the cold southern winters, adorn large overcoats and scarves to shelter from the wind and rain, both outdoors and sometimes inside their freezing flats!

The University's campus is located just North of the central city, and is Dunedin's beating heart, it is often said that there is a noticeable change in population during the university's summer break. With constant additions to the University's facilities, buildings on Campus range from the famous Gothic Clock Tower to the brand new library, while the Leith continues to meander through the campus before opening out into the harbour.
